Theme: Preventive Oral Health Science
Education
Est. attendance: 300 (100 adults and 200 little visitors)
CDHA will share fun-filled activities to hundreds of
visitors with wonderful kid's games, which educate the children and their
families about the value of good oral hygiene. The national Healthyville
Exhibit has a dental section - with huge teeth as the center of attraction.
CDHA supplies literature and "shows" that run continuously utilizing
hands-on interactive games. Using child inspired visuals, exhibits are designed
to stimulate the senses and arouse the imagination through creative discovery
of the child’s mouth, gums, teeth and tongue.
Participation: We need RDH volunteers for 1-hour. As an added bonus
for helping CDHA out, those of you w/ children, we have arranged for your
family to come in for free. During your shift, the kids (if old enough)
can help teach/help other kids learn an activity while playing in the area
themselves. Before or after your shift, feel free to take them through the
museums other exhibits.
THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY to educate the public
about who Registered Dental Hygienists are and what we do.
CDHA’s goal is to have representation of at least
one RDH from each state component to participate and at least one SDH from each
DH school to be mentored.
Stepping Stones has taken a proactive approach to
educating children and now promotes a mentally and physically attuned child who
is in balance and prepared to lead a healthy life. The Stepping Stones
Museum, in response to
widespread concern about children’s health, is leading a four-year-statewide
children’s health initiative called “Healthy Children, Healthy Communities” in
an innovative collaboration with health professionals, state agencies, schools,
community organizations and museum educators.
