ALLIED MEMBERSHIP
A recent Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA) mailing invites dental hygienists to join the CSDA as an allied member of their organization. While CDHA has always been an advocate for professional membership, team approach and effort, the board does have a concern about this recent strategy. The mission of the CSDA clearly states that its focus is to represent the interests and objectives of Connecticut dentists.
The benefits of becoming and remaining a member of your own professional organization outweigh those of being a member of another. To maintain a strong voice in the voting interests that benefit you as a dental hygienist, CDHA is the only voice in the state that is dedicated to empowering, supporting, and developing the many roles you play as a professional. In matters that concern our profession, CDHA is best heard if we speak together. For this reason, we continue to encourage all hygienists to support and join ADHA/CDHA. Dental Hygienists have their own legislative voice, public relations program, and continuing education programs through ADHA/CDHA.
If you are approached by your dentist with an offer to join CSDA, suggest that you would prefer to have that money used to offset the cost of dues for your professional association, the Connecticut Dental Hygienists' Association.
