Susan Miklos, RDH, EFDA, BSDH, MSDH Candidate, (Immediate Past) President CDHA 2012-2013
This message is to share my final thoughts, as your CDHA President. The success of any president is reflected through the support, strength and knowledge of individual members of its organization. I would like to express my gratitude for your support and special thanks for the opportunity of serving as your president. As the 100th year comes to a close, it is time to focus on our Board of Trustees (BOT), as many challenges were presented to them and they graciously have deliberated each issue. Focus also needs to be directed to Council Chairs in appreciation for their time and efforts, as they worked hard for us to make this a memorable year. Additionally, I would like to recognize students, with their cheerful attitudes at CDHA events and meetings. Many milestones along our journey made it a great pleasure to work with such a fine organization. Connecticut proved to be a strong state, full of accomplishments throughout this year of celebrating a century of dental hygiene. My thanks goes out to all of you, so please, take time to applaud yourselves for your efforts and read on as I review the list your achievements on so many levels.
We began early in the year with winning the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) video contest. Additionally, you assisted District II in meeting and winning the donation challenge for both the Oral Health Institute and HyPAC. The Mouth Power® exhibit displayed at the Discovery Museum in Bridgeport for 100 days, representing 100 years of dental hygiene. It was well received by the museum and appreciated by dental clinicians as well as the public, making it a great success. CDHA was able to network with other dental hygienists from outside of our state at the Centennial Celebration in Bridgeport. Our delegates attended the Center for Lifelong Learning in Boston and discussed advancements in dental hygiene across the country. As always, ADHA reminded us that they work for us and will continue to answer our questions. July of this year marked the first BOT meeting held through virtual technology opening communication between members and the BOT throughout the state.
In closing, being approachable as an association is important to members.
I encourage CDHA to continue on this path, using virtual technology and the fresh ideas of students to facilitate growth. I have great confidence that the organization will continue to advance, and look forward to continue serving you as the new Immediate Past President for the year 2014.
THANK YOU SUSAN FOR A SUCCESSFUL YEAR! Nutmeg Conference at the Omni Hotel at Yale again November 6, 7, 8 2014
